Spa 25 hour - Moving closer to Le Mans

Our driver Andy Searle gives us his thoughts on the challenging 25 hour race ahead of the team at Spa this weekend.

This weekend we will be competing in the Fun Cup Championship at one of Europe’s most renowned tracks – Circuit de Spa Francorchamps, taking part in a 25-hour race against 100+ other teams from across Europe and the globe.

This race will be very special to us as it teaches us valuable lessons to take with us when we compete at the Le Mans 24-hour race. This gruelling endurance race will be mentally, physically and emotionally exhausting, so it is great that we get a chance to see how we will react and perform in the situation. Once we have completed the race we can analyse our performances, improve our weaknesses and build on our strengths.

This will take us one step closer to achieving our goal of racing at Le Mans in 2020. Our ‘Man in Le Mans’, David, will be joining the team as a guest driver. His experience in endurance racing will be of such value to the team as we continue our journey.

Joining us out in Spa is the British GT Championship, a championship that we hope to compete in as we progress in motor sport. It will be great to see the drivers and super cars in action. I’d like a Lamborghini – if I ask nicely, they might let me drive!

It’s great that we’ll be joined by lots of staff from Brit Insurance, our title sponsor, along with our crew and support team.  Having such a supportive team to cheer us on will really help give us the confidence we need to compete against drivers from across the world
