‘No limits, just living’

Raman Sankaran, Chief Commercial Officer of The Unlimited Company from Simplyhealth, talks about becoming a Team BRIT sponsor

The Unlimited Company were delighted to partner with Team BRIT as a corporate sponsor because we share similar values.  We help people make the most of life whether it’s doing everyday things other people take for granted, or chasing new dreams they’d never have considered possible.  The Unlimited Company are forever grateful for the sacrifices military veterans make and we are so pleased to be able to support them in this small way.  We hope that through our sponsorship we can help raise awareness and inspire people to try something new, or help remove barriers that they didn't know could be removed. This isn't just about sport but about helping people the most of life, whatever that means for them.

Our partnership started with The Unlimited Company’s Blackburn Catchment Manager, Kristian Fairchild, having a chance conversation with someone that led us to the Team BRIT sponsorship opportunity.  We gave some of our stores large cardboard cut-outs of the Team BRIT car and a racing suit so shop staff could engage with customers and enter a photo competition on our own internal ‘chat’ platform.  More recently The Unlimited Company has run a business case competition for all stores to enter, where they can pitch – Dragon’s Den style – for a driver and car store appearance to attract new customers.  They have definitely risen to the challenge!

Team BRIT continues to go from strength to strength, evidenced by their recent participation in the Spa 25 hour endurance race. We particularly enjoy reading the updates from the team members themselves and learning more about the positive impact being part of the team is having on their lives. For example, seeing them give teenage racing driver Billy Monger the opportunity to get back in the driver's seat after his crash really shows what they're all about.

It’s impossible to imagine what the drivers have been through and hearing their stories is inspirational in itself.  They refuse to dwell on the past, they look forward constantly and have huge ambitions for the future, competing in a sport on a level playing field with able bodied drivers.  For anyone considering sponsoring Team BRIT, I would say ‘do it!’ The Unlimited Company’s ethos is ‘no limits, just living’ and Team BRIT and its members are perfect examples of this mantra; living life to the full, irrespective of the past. We are looking forward to doing all we can to help them make racing history at the 24 Hours of Le Mans competition.
