Bobby and Warren team up with F1 legend in charity kart race

Team BRIT drivers Bobby Trundley and Warren McKinlay have teamed up with Formula 1 legend and Team BRIT patron, Damon Hill, to help raise money for charity.

Warren and Bobby joined Damon, his son and a friend to form ‘Damon’s All Stars’ in a kart race held at Daytona race track at Sandown Park on Sunday.

The race was in aid of the Halow Project, a charity backed by Damon Hill that supports young people with learning disabilities on their journey into and through adult life.

Bobby put in a pole position qualifying lap, but a random grid draw saw them start from the back of the grid. All of the drivers put in exceptional performances to bring them further and further up the grid throughout the race.

Warren put in an impressive time during his stint, Damon drove 6 seconds per lap faster than anyone else and Bobby put in the fastest qualifying time during a rain soaked session.

6 laps into the race and the team had taken P1, but a problem in the pits set them back.  After a fantastic performance the team finished second.

This was Bobby’s third year of participating in the event and Warren’s second.

Last year, Warren met Bobby for the first time and invited him to try out for Team BRIT.  Bobby is now a rookie driver for the team and has won both of his races in the BMW 116 Trophy.

Bobby said, “I absolutely love taking part in this event.  It’s so much fun and in aid of a fantastic charity.  I can’t believe how much my life has changed since meeting Warren there last year and joining Team BRIT.  I’m also still pinching myself that I got to be on a team with Damon and Josh Hill!”

Warren said, “What a great event to be part of. I couldn’t believe I was stood in a pit lane talking race tactics with Damon Hill and his son Josh, who are amazing guys. I hope to return next year, it would be great to enter a Team BRIT karting team.”
