Team BRIT races in iconic speed trials

Team BRIT has taken part in one of motorsport’s much-loved summer events, racing in the Frosts Brighton Speed Trials.

On Saturday 7th September, Martyn Compton represented the team, driving the Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4.

Spectated by thousands, the Frosts Brighton Speed Trials take part every year and see over 200 cars and motorbikes line up to take a timed, quarter mile run down Madeira Drive on the sea front.

There are categories for road cars, race cars and bikes who compete to win the fastest in their class, ending in a run-off between the top six to find the fastest car and bike.

Team BRIT was invited to take part this year and military veteran Martyn took to the wheel, supported by Race Engineer Al Locke.

After a practice and two timed runs, Martyn finished P9 in class, brining his times down on each run.

Martyn said: “The Speed Trials are a well loved, iconic race, and being from Sussex, it’s been great to take part in this local event.

“We’ve never run the Aston Martin in a drag race so it was a new test for me and our race engineer, but we were pleased to improve on our time from the first test to our second run.

“It was a privilege to take part, so many thanks to Brighton and Hove Motor Club for the invitation and support, it was great fun meeting so many members of the public interested in what we do at Team BRIT.”
