Team BRIT’s title sponsor confirms support for 2021

Team BRIT is set for its biggest year yet, thanks to the continued support of global insurance leader, Brit ltd (“Brit”).

Market-leading global specialty insurer, Brit, has confirmed its support of Team BRIT for the fifth consecutive year, providing the backing the team needs to continue making racing history.

Team BRIT is a competitive racing team of disabled drivers. It aims to be the first British all-disabled team to race in the Le Mans 24 hour, and through its Racing Academy, it supports drivers with a range of physical and psychological challenges in accessing motorsport.

Brit joined the Team BRIT journey in 2017, kickstarting its path along the motorsport ladder as it began racing with two cars in the Fun Cup series.  Five years on and the team has a fleet of five cars, including an Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4, and 2021 will see its team of drivers race in the Britcar Championship for the third consecutive year.

In 2019, thanks to Brit’s support, it launched a world-first, the Team BRIT Racing Academy, offering disabled drivers the chance to access professional coaching using world-leading hand control technology at race circuits across the country.

Looking ahead, the team looks to grow its impact through the academy, welcoming more disabled drivers into the world of motorsport and aims to continue to develop its drivers as it progresses in competitive racing towards Le Mans.

Matthew Wilson, Brit CEO, commented:  “This will be our fifth year of supporting Team BRIT and we remain as excited by our partnership today as we were on day one. Team BRIT continues to be the most inspirational team in motorsport, not only have they made a significant impact in supporting and advocating for those impacted by disabilities, PTSD and mental health issues but they have also continued to grow and thrive as a competitive racing team.  At Brit we believe that the more diverse and inclusive your talent base the more successful you will be as an organisation, Team Brit embodies this mindset and we are proud to support them.”

Team BRIT Founder Dave Player said, “When Brit backed us in 2017, it changed everything.  Having the support and belief of a leading global company such as Brit, meant we could push forward with the development of our technology and the creation of our development path for disabled drivers, which made racing a possibility for people who would never have had these opportunities.

“Year after year we’ve shown Brit just how much they are enabling us to achieve, and I’m proud to say that every year is more successful than the last.

“Their support has been life changing for us as a team and we’re incredibly grateful for their continued belief in us for 2021 – which we know will be our biggest year yet.”

Other sponsors confirming their support of the team in 2021 include Karcher, Texaco and DAF.
