Team BRIT wows at British Formula One

Members of Team BRIT enjoyed an exclusive motorsport experience, whilst sharing their inspirational stories, after attending the British Formula One at Silverstone this weekend.

CEO and Founder Dave Player, along with Commercial Manager Mike Scudamore, were invited to the race weekend by Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing and Kingsley Wheaton, CMO of British American Tobacco.

On Saturday 13th, five rookie drivers gave a talk in the Drivers Lounge in front of 1500 people, sharing their stories and explaining the opportunities the team is providing.

Guests heard from 20-year-old Bobby Trundley who lives with autism and has won his first three races for the team, Rich Newton, a double leg amputee who recently won ‘driver of the day’ in his second race of the BMW 116 Trophy, Matty Street, a 22-year-old entrepreneur who lives with autism and recently raced with the team as a guest driver, and Aaron Morgan and Ben Connolly, two drivers who taken part in the team’s Racing Academy and are keen to try out as team members.

Whilst Bobby impressed with his story of overcoming adversity to become a racing driver, he also showed just how competitive he is – winning the day’s fastest lap competition on the sim racing machines.

Dave and Mike were then VIP guests in the McLaren Paddock Club for Sunday’s race.

Dave Player said, “It was fantastic to experience Formula One in such an exclusive way – something we aspire to be part of as we continue with our motorsport journey.

“I’m very grateful to Zak and Kingsley, who’s kind invitations not only provided us with the chance to share our story with a great number of motorsport fans, but also with an unforgettable experience for our rookie drivers.

“One guest told me that after hearing Bobby and Matty’s stories, he feels much more positive about the future for his granddaughter who also lives with autism. If we’ve inspired just one person and showed them what it’s possible to achieve, then for us, the event was a huge success.”
