Team BRIT – the most inspirational team in motorsport – has visited one of the capital’s iconic landmark buildings with their new Aston Martin at a special launch event.
The team is looking to become the first ever all-disabled team to race in the Le Mans 24 hour endurance race and on Tuesday 20th March, the team’s Aston Martin V8 Vantage was parked outside the Leadenhall Building as part of a sponsor event.
The team has developed the world’s most advanced hand control technology to allow its drivers to compete equally with able-bodied drivers. It is looking to normalise disability and inspire others with its ‘Believe and Achieve’ ethos.
Many of the team’s drivers are former military troops who have sustained serious injuries and last summer the team opened its doors to civilian disabled drivers.
Tuesday’s visit to the iconic Leadenhall Building was to formally launch the team’s entry to GT racing in 2018, at the offices of their title sponsor Brit Insurance, with a launch party hosted by sponsors NTT DATA.
CEO of NTT DATA UK Simon Williams said, “We were delighted to be able to support Team BRIT as they revealed their new GT car that will take them to Le Mans. We are incredibly proud to be a part of the Team and are inspired by their dedication to teamwork and innovation. NTT DATA shares the same values that drives Team Brit to achieve success – that sense of togetherness through teamwork, foresight in innovation and an enduring commitment to achieve ambitious goals.”
Matthew Wilson, Brit Group CEO, said: “In only a short space of time Team BRIT has achieved a huge amount and we share their excitement at today’s launch of the Aston Martin GT4 car. Brit Insurance is proud to be a partner of Team BRIT, and we look forward to continuing to support the most inspirational team in motorsport, as they get closer to their goal of becoming the first all disabled team to race at the Le Mans 24 hrs”
Team BRIT founder and CEO Dave Player said, “Tuesday was a superb way for us to showcase our new GT car and our adaptive technology, whilst also saying ‘thank you’ to our sponsors. We are not a charity, we are a competitive racing team, so we depend on the support of our backers such as Brit Insurance and NTT DATA, who will help us make sporting history.”
