A group of students from Derby Grammar School have been treated to a behind the scenes racing experience, thanks to a special visit to meet our team at Donington Park.
The students, aged 13-16 are all part of the school’s F24 Greenpower racing team. Greenpower encourages young people into STEM careers through motorsport via its F24 Greenpower challenge – to design, build and race an electric car. The team races competitively in the Greenpower electric series and participates in a range of informative and educational trips.
The students were invited to visit us during our day of testing at Donington Park ahead of our GT Cup races taking place on the 27/28th June, along with our tyre supplier – Pirelli.
The students visited the Team BRIT garage and were able to watch as the drivers and crew prepped for the races ahead, getting valuable track time and practising driver changes and pit stops.

Team BRIT Principal Mike Scudamore also spoke with students about the range of career opportunities available in the world of motorsport.

F24 Team Manager Paul Lakritz said: “Our visit to Team BRIT ranks as one of the best trips I’ve attended for student engagement and enthusiasm, in all my 30 years of experience. Students will remember this trip for a very long time, furthermore, I believe the words of insight and wisdom from Mike of Team BRIT and Martin of Pirelli will help build an understanding of how young people can enter a sector or industry through networking and personal commitment.
“Today’s experience has provided a view of how they can progress into the next stages of motorsport and engineering and gave them an appreciation of how industry can be inclusive and beneficial to all
“I’m confident the well-drilled routines and professionalism seen in the Team BRIT Racing pits will transfer into performance improvement by those attending.”
Feedback from the students included:
“It was insane”
“Fantastic trip, definitely one to remember.”
Team BRIT Principal Mike Scudamore said: “It was a real pleasure to welcome Paul and the students to our garage at Donington yesterday. They were so enthusiastic and so interested in our team, our technology and the world of racing.
“I hope we were able to shine a unique light on racing from our perspective, whilst also motivating them to believe that anything is possible with hard work, support and belief. They would be welcome back to see us trackside, any time.”
