For the second year running, we’ve headed to the mountains for team building and driver training with a difference, with an entry in the 13th Ice Kart Trophy, hosted by RD Events.

The championship is hosted in Serre Chevalier in the French Alps and sees teams from all over the world competing in 3 x 60 minute kart races on a custom-made ice track.

This year, Engineering Director Al Locke and Chief Mechanic JJ Spencer headed out to fit our hand controls into the kart and provide engineering support. Drivers Paul Fullick, Bobby Trundley and Aaron Morgan were the lucky ones taking to the track, and long-term supporter and friend of the team, Darren Keeble of MFX Wraps went along to join in the fun.

The drivers were able to take part in practise before the race, ahead of qualifying. After a fun-filled and action pack three races, with spins, overtakes and everything in between, the drivers finished P8, P11 and P12.

Alongside the racing, the entire team enjoyed some time on the slopes, with Aaron and Bobby taking ski lessons for the first time.

Al Locke explains: “What an amazing opportunity this was once again. It’s really important for us to take time during the off season to spend time together as a team, but also to look for fun and challenging ways to focus on driver training.

“Driving on ice is hard – let alone racing on ice, so racecraft, steering control, situational awareness and everything else is tested in the extreme.

“The drivers had a great time and took a lot from it – whilst also having the chance to put themselves right out of their comfort zones with some ski time on the slopes. We hope to be back in 2027.”
