We’re lucky to meet many incredible people through our work, and last week was one for the history books when we welcomed world‑renowned downhill mountain bike rider Adolf Silva to spend some time with our team.

Adolf was invited to join us for a few days as he explores new opportunities in sport following a life‑changing injury.

From Barcelona, Spain, Adolf began exploring the dirt trails on his bike at the age of seven and by the time he was 16, was riding in the Masters of Dirt show.

He soon became one of the most respected professional mountain bikers in the industry. The cycling community even named him the “Mountain Bike Wonder” after conquering a treacherous ride from the base to the summit of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range. He held a multiple championship titles with stand-out wins in the Red Bull Rampage and Crankworx series. It was at the Red Bull Rampage where he sustained a life changing injury. In the 2025 competition, which sees riders descending a mountain and scoring points for lines and tricks, Adolf took on a trick never before attempted, which went wrong. He fell and damaged his spine, leaving him paralysed from the chest down.

Adolf joined Team BRIT drivers and sponsors at the annual karting event at Daytona Milton Keynes, but the main focus of his visit was a test day at Silverstone Circuit. The session gave Adolf the opportunity to experience our race‑proven hand control systems and understand how motorsport could form part of the next stage of his competitive career.

Supported on circuit by Team BRIT driver Paul Fullick, Adolf was guided through the controls and quickly settled into the car. Paul shared both technical insight and personal experience, helping Adolf to focus on learning and performance from the very first laps.

Reflecting on the Silverstone test, Adolf spoke positively about both the technology and the people behind it:

“I was surprised by how easy the hand controls were to use – it felt natural almost immediately and gave me a lot of confidence,” said Silva. “But what really stood out was how welcoming everyone at Team BRIT has been. From the moment I arrived, it felt like being part of a team.”

“It’s good to know there are a lot of different options and opportunities ahead of me. I’m looking forward to building plans to compete once again.”
