Team BRIT rookie driver Chris Overend will be stepping up to try out GT4 racing this month, in his first ever race in our Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4.
Chris is currently competing in the Britcar Trophy alongside James Whitley, driving our BMW M240i.
Thanks to a new sponsor joining Chris for the rest of the season, he will now be racing the Aston Martin alongside Andy Tucker in the next round of the British Endurance Championship at Donington on the 20th August.
Current Aston Martin driver Luke Pound is working to secure additional sponsorship for further racing in the championship.
New sponsor Dowse Engineering will be supporting Chris for this race, having been introduced to Chris and the team through Chris’ current personal sponsor, Shield Sights. Dowse Engineering manufacture precision components for clients across industries including aerospace, defence and motorsport. The firm’s branding will be seen across the Aston Martin for the next race.
Chris will continue to race in Britcar, with the next round taking place at Donington on the 14th August.
Chris said: “Wow, what a season this is turning in to! I’ve had the best time in Britcar so far and am thrilled to be leading the championship with James. I’m extremely grateful to Dowse Engineering for supporting me in the next step of my racing career. It means a lot that they have put their trust in me to represent their brand and I plan to make the most of my debut in the Aston at Donington.
“A huge thanks also to one of the first sponsors to join me on this journey – James at Shield Sights, who kindly introduced me to the Dowse Engineering team.”
Team BRIT Commercial Director Mike Scudamore recently visited the Dowse Engineering HQ in Milton Keynes for a tour of the manufacturing site and the products it produces. He will be working with the Dowse team to explore how Dowse Engineering products could further develop the team’s world-leading hand controls.
Managing Director of Dowse Engineering, Trevor Dowse said: “I was introduced to Team BRIT by a long-term customer, James at Shield Sights, and I instantly knew it was a project I wanted to support. Motorsport is a major sector for us, having produced components for major players competing in F1 and Le Mans. To now be supporting a rookie driver who has his sights firmly set on Le Mans is something very special.
“We look forward to following Chris’ progress on the next stage of his racing journey.”
