RS Components (RS), a trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE: ECM), a global omni-channel product and service solutions provider for industrial customers and suppliers, is championing access to motorsport for all with its sponsorship of Team BRIT. As part of the support package, it is providing crucial kit and supplies to the team, which has aspirations to become the first ever all-disabled team to race in the Le Mans 24 hour.
Using parts sourced through RS, the team has developed the world’s most advanced hand control technology to enable disabled drivers to compete on equal terms.
Emma Botfield, RS Components’ Managing Director, UK and Ireland, said: “Having heard the extraordinary story of an engineer who used RS parts to design a change in the race car’s internal mechanism, to enable all to drive equally within this sport, we were compelled to get involved. Team BRIT’s mission to change motorsport and lives is truly inspiring, and we hope our support – including the kit and supplies we’ll be providing – will help the team achieve real success this year, including reaching the ultimate goal of participation in the Le Mans 24 hour race.”
Mike Scudamore, Commercial Director at Team BRIT, said: “We’re delighted to have RS Components on board as a sponsor for Team BRIT, and of course we are grateful for the access to crucial supplies needed to help us reach our ambitious goals. These include changing motorsport to make it truly accessible for disabled drivers, and competing in some of the most iconic endurance races in the world, including the Le Mans 24, where we hope to make history. We are supported by partners and sponsors from a wide range of sectors, without which we would not be able to do what we do, or make the strides we have in the sport in recent years. We’re very excited for this year’s championships, and we already have a couple of wins in the bag from recent races at Silverstone and Oulton Park, which have given us a strong start to the racing season and the confidence and motivation to make 2022 an historic year.”
